Week 8 Bucs Post (@ Arizona, W 38-35)

Wow. Apparently the Bucs were hell-bent on giving me a heart attack on Sunday, but at least they were able to pull out yet another 4th-quarter comeback. (Quite frankly, though, I wish they hadn't given up 21 points in just over 6 minutes of game time to necessitate said comeback...)Josh Freeman was huge. Again. Still. So much poise for such a young guy. It's an odd feeling as a Tampa fan to have faith in your offense. I was really impressed by the offensive line, too, which is in a pretty ramshackle state due to injuries at the moment. Their play wasn't perfect, but they provided enough protection to let Freeman and the running backs get the job done...
Speaking of the running backs, my love for LaGarrette Blount grows with each passing Sunday. It is just downright fun to watch that kid run... especially when he's hurdling safeties on his way to a 48-yard run that Tampa desperately needed as they tried to close out the game on the right side of the point differential...
Cadillac may not have the shiny numbers that Blount has been putting up, but if you watch him on big passing plays you see how integrally important he is in blocking for Josh Freeman. That's the kind of guy I want on my team (especially with the offensive line in its current state).Next week's game in Atlanta will be a huge test for these shockingly-5-and-2 Bucs. So far Tampa has been pretty thoroughly embarrassed by the playoff-caliber teams they've encountered. The Atlanta game will give us (sometimes delusional) fans a better sense of whether this team really deserves to rank among the top in the NFC. Oh, and happy 200th game, Ronde! May you never play like the old man that you are...
